So we got down to work at the end of January we had a working prototype as promised. We built up one of the board s as if it was to be a pedal and we found errors in the provided schematic for the Super Filter, however, the QUAD worked perfectly. We were not allowed access to the OSIRIS bass to trace and confirm the circuit there so we found a used vintage rack SF2 to test against. It took a few wires to correct the Super Filter, but we would have to order 10 more units with the correct circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The version 2 came back in march and everything was correct. We tested in our lab but would have to test with the actual pickups in the actual bass. We did not have one , it was still getting built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our end was pretty much done and we sent them invoice and a how-to document. All in All – the price per units ending up costing $467. Still not bad for a $20000-$30000 bass. I think this is supposed to be done for some time around August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For our Pedal we decided to give it a name Super-Freq II. First, in honor of lineage to the SF2. Second, there is a lot of frequency manipulation. Third , with Envelope Control mode or Foot Pedal mode this be sounding freaky. We had identified all the cool “Actuator” Opto-Coupler features that we could have in the Mu-Tron version. And we started working on that version in hopes of having it ready for NAMM come January. Mr X. asked how much my production units would cost. Roughly the same PCB populated made 1000 at a time would be $179. No QUAD board or Power included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was weird , was that there was no talk about pedal or my involvement. As if it was top-secret. When we’re they going to plug my product? my involvement, anything? Was someone getting greedy? Ulterior motives? All I heard or anyone else was about the Bass. Still, where was the Bass?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, I felt there was kind of a game of good cop, bad cop going on and I couldn’t get a straight answer. Who was in charge Mr. X , Mr. Y. I asked for a set of pickups so I could do my own testing. Even when a circuit works, there are optimizations to be made, and I wanted this thing to be the bomb. I was denied the pickups as well, “they were still getting made”. I sent the 10 units and I kept one in my possession for debugging purposes. Things were getting weird. Still, Mr. X keeps asking \/ begging me to do LED board. Well I got paid for the 10 units and I felt ahead of schedule so I said I’ll think about it. Meanwhile, I had to get back to running my business, I still had plenty of fires of my own. I didn’t realize the wolves were a gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
